I interrupt this blog to bring you the standard Kurtz Caveat: raising boatloads of cash do not a nominee make. See Dean, Howard, 2004, and Gramm, Phil, 1996. But for Obama, at this early stage, it establishes a certain level of credibility, not just with other donors but with the vast media conspiracy. And it wipes away the notion that Hillary Clinton is going to crush the competition.

Top Republicans got half as much, although I have a feeling they are not trying as hard at this point. Whoever raises the most money gets the automatic win right?

It will be hard to spin this into good news, but her negatives have never stopped Hillary before. Also, her negatives are obviously not that high in New York, she won by bigger margins than the poll has.

I'm not a campaign manager or anything, but limiting the public appearances so that you can rake in the cash sounds like a strategy that will eventually backfire. Some people just want to SEE the candidates (even if from a distance) without paying thousands of dollars. I'm glad Obama took the time, hopefully Hillary will make a public stop soon too. Pretty crappy, and offensive, answers from both Hillary and Obama yesterday when asked whether they think that homosexuality is immoral .

Rather than giving the clear cut answer that Senator John Warner (R-VA) gave, "I respectfully, but strongly, disagree with the chairman's view that homosexuality is immoral," or that John Edwards gave, "I don't share that view," Hillary and Obama squirmed.

Hillary: "Well, I'm going to leave that to others to conclude."

Obama: Newsday caught Obama as he was leaving the firefighters convention and asked him three times if he thought homosexuality is immoral.

Answer 1: "I think traditionally the Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman has restricted his public comments to military matters. That's probably a good tradition to follow."

Answer 2: "I think the question here is whether somebody is willing to sacrifice for their country, should they be able to if they're doing all the things that should be done."

Answer 3: Signed autograph, posed for snapshot, jumped athletically into town car.

What, they thought they were Republicans for the day? I don't get how you screw that question up.

Parking and Transportation office show that between Oct. 5, 1988 and Jan. 12, 1990 Obama was cited for 17 traffic violations, sometimes committing two in the same day. The abuses included parking in a resident permit area, parking in a bus stop and failing to pay the meter. Twelve of Obama's 17 tickets were given to him on Massachusetts Avenue.

In one eight day stretch in 1988, Obama was cited seven times for parking violations and was fined $45. Thirteen of the 17 violations occurred within one month in 1988.

Obama's disobedience of the rules of the road earned him $140 in fines from the City of Cambridge. The tickets went unpaid for over 17 years and $260 in late fees were added to the tab. On Jan. 26, the fines and late fees were paid in full. The final tally for Obama's parking breaches was $400, according to Cambridge Traffic, Parking and Transportation.

Wait until they find out he smoked pot. Cheapest parking tickets ever, I guess the key is waiting 17 years. Amazing Facts has more.

State Sen. Darrell Jackson (D) is the pastor of the Bible Way Church in Columbia. which has one of the largest congregations in South Carolina. He was the youngest African American ever elected to the legislature. His endorsement is among the few in the state that can change minds and move votes.
Jackson is also a prized political consultant, and, during the past two South Carolina primary campaigns, has been the object of a bidding war between top-tier presidential candidates.
Yesterday, Jackson confirmed that he had decided to endorse Sen. Hillary Clinton, less than six days after his public relations firm, Sunrise Enterprises, agreed to a contract with Clinton's campaign worth at least $10,000 a month through the 2008 elections - a total of $210,000. (The contract has not been signed.)

Senator Barack Obama of Illinois said Monday that he had misspoken when he suggested that the lives of more than 3,000 American soldiers killed in Iraq had been “wasted.”

Michelle Malkin vs Carpetbagger! Both are saying the lives weren't wasted, but Carpetbagger thinks the analysis is somewhat relevant. I think Obama said what he really meant first and now is taking it back to be politically correct.

Rasmussen Reports has a new poll out on the 2008 Democratic field that has Hillary Clinton's lead down to a scant 5 points over Barack Obama -- 28% vs. 23%. That is by far the smallest lead for Senator Clinton to date, though a single election day poll by McLaughlin & Associates (R) had similar results (27% - 21%). Otherwise, all of the post-election presidential polling has shown Clinton with leads ranging from 11% (Gallup) to 28% (FOX News).

Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday that President Bush should withdraw all U.S. troops from Iraq before he leaves office, asserting it would be “the height of irresponsibility” to pass the war along to the next commander in chief.

Seems to be playing well with the left, but I don't think its realistic, I suppose it is better than the withdraw now crowd, her successor could just as well be someone who supports the war and wants to continue it, then he or she'd have to invade all over again. Hillary should insist that GWB give everyone health care and pay off the deficit while she's at it.

DreamWorks SKG moguls Steven Spielberg and David Geffen, along with activist actors George Clooney and Barbra Streisand, each forked over $2,000 to Obama's 2004 Senate campaign, according to Newsmeat.com, a Web site that tracks celeb contributions.
In October, Clooney said an Obama presidential bid "would be the most electrifying thing to happen to the Democratic Party since (President John F.) Kennedy," the Los Angeles Times reported. He could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
But Spielberg, Geffen and Streisand also have donated generously to New York Democrat Clinton's past Senate bids, so it's unclear which way they'll go in a Clinton-Obama faceoff.

First of all, even though Obama is winning the fund raising race, or appears to be, I find it more entertaining that Hillary Clinton has a wiki about her. Talk about hitting it big.

Right now Obama's "One Million for Barack" facebook group has over 140k people

"Hillary Clinton for President - One Million and Beyond for Hillary" has about 20 people.

Granted, Hillary's group started yesterday. It seems that this phenomenon of getting "one million supporters" is catching on after Obama supporters started one.

As a side note, McCain has about 400 people for his group.

Okay, I read Hillary Clinton's website, and did anyone else notice that Bill Clinton plays almost ZERO roll in the Hillary's story section. I think he gets three lines total. Of course, to be fair, Chelsea gets only one line, there is a whole section titled Mother & Advocate, but its more advocate than mother. I know it is about her, but come on, for everyone I know, their close personal relationships are a major part of their lives. George Bush's biography is about 1/5 as long and he finds time to mention the dog and cats. Although, maybe thats not such a good thing.

During the hours of research I do for this site, I came across hillaryclinton.com, which is the official Hillary for President site. I didn't read the site, because I already know all there is to know, but I did look at the pictures, and the picture currently on the front is distasteful. I know soft focus is a older woman's friend, but couldn't they find *ANYTHING* better?

Meanwhile on the Obama site, barackobama.com he is very much in focus and looks very good as he shakes the hands of people sitting on a steep hill. One minor quibble with his site, he refers to himself as Barack as a number of times on his page. Regardless, this round goes to the man with the health care plan someday, Obama.

The people apparently don't agree with me, as Clinton's website is more popular on announcement day according to LeeAnn Prescott. I attribute this to Obama's first name not being known by anyone.
